Nourishing berry for protection against colds and flu
The berries of elder trees are widely used to offer protection against colds, flu, and other viral infections. Elderberries are an easy herb to love -- they’re a nourishing and delicious immune tonic, and herbalists turn to them for overall daily immune support.
Native to Europe and North America, both Anglo Saxon tribes and Native Americans used the hollowed branches of Elder trees to stoke a fire by blowing air through. It didn’t take long for this to inspire the use of these tubes as flute for music-making. In fact it’s likely that ancient Greeks and Romans first used elders for medicine, as well as to fashion wind instruments and even a lyre.
